Tears at drop-off are one of the hardest parts of starting daycare — for children and parents alike. The good news: it’s completely normal, it passes, and a few gentle habits make it easier.
- A short, consistent goodbye helps most
- Lingering can make it harder
- Our educators are right there to comfort and settle
A quick goodbye ritual
A hug, a wave, and a cheerful “see you after snack,” then go. Predictable and brief works better than long and drawn-out.
Why lingering makes it harder
Staying longer can signal there’s something to worry about. A calm, confident goodbye tells your child they’re safe — and that you’ll be back.
What we do
Warm arms, a favourite activity, and a quick message so you know they’ve settled — usually within minutes of you leaving.
